Carbondale, Ill. – A SIU student and football player faces drug charges.

Carbondale Police say Victor Burnett faces multiple charges, including possession of cannabis and possession with intent to deliver, and will appear in court November 13 to determine if authorities had probable cause when they took nearly 700 grams of cannabis from Burnett’s home.

Police say they were called to Burnett’s house for a home invasion in progress Saturday. They discovered the cannabis and other paraphernalia and charged Burnett.

Police say Burnett told them someone threatened Burnett’s business, a clothing line he started last year called “Actrite,” and his ability to play football. Burnett told police that person blackmailed him and another SIU football player into holding the marijuana.

Another SIU football player is reportedly involved but not charged.
