MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WJPF) — The Murphysboro City Council has approved an emergency grant program for small businesses affected by COVID-19.

The city-funded program will make a total of $38,000 available for businesses with less than 10 employees within the city limits. Each business may receive a one time payment of up to $1,000. Home based businesses are not eligible.

The money had previously been earmarked for a business loan fund.

Applications are expected to be available by Monday morning. They can be downloaded from the city’s website or picked from the Daum Administrative Building’s drive-thru window.
