A northern Illinois man has been convicted of assaulting both a police and correctional officer.

33-year-old Alan Shields was found guilty of aggravated battery to a police officer, threatening a public official, and aggravated battery to a correctional officer.

According to a press release from the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Shields was arrested by Marion Police back in February on an active warrant out of Jackson County. Shields resisted arrest, spitting on one of the officers. Direct threats were also made to the officers as Shields was transported to the Williamson County Jail. At the jail, Shields bit one of the correctional officer. The bite requiring several stiches.

Sentencing for Shields will be August 17.
