One person is dead after a fire broke out inside a home in Goreville Tuesday morning.

48-year old Jessie Hancock died of smoke inhalation according to Johnson County Coroner David Rockwell.

Authorities say the fire may not be suspicious.

The fire was first noticed by people in the neighborhood before 7 am, and is said to have started in the home’s kitchen. Fire crews from Goreville, Vienna, and Lake of Egypt helped to put the fire out.
