SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — An Illinois lawmaker wants to phase out a 50 percent tuition waiver for the children of state university employees. Democrat Jack Franks of Woodstock says the state can no longer afford the break, which cost Illinois about $10 million last year. It would be phased out over four years under his plan.
