Illinois – A few local initiatives will appear on ballots.

In Williamson County, voters will decide if the township of Whiteash should dissolve and be turned over to the county. Creal Springs is voting on whether liquor prohibition should continue.

West Frankfort residents will vote on whether to end Home Rule. This allows the town to set town-wide ordinances and taxes.

Johnson County residents will vote on a one percent sales tax increase.

Contested races in Jackson County include clerk: Republican Bob Perring faces incumbent Democrat Larry Reinhardt; And treasurer: Democrat Sharon Harris-Johnson faces Republican Steve Vorhees.

In Williamson County, republican incumbent commissioner Ron Ellis faces Democrat Dennis Falmier. For county clerk, incumbent Republican Amanda Barnes faces Democrat Liz Lively.

In the Perry County sheriff’s race, incumbent Democrat Keith Kellerman faces Republican Steve Bareis.

In the Johnson County Sheriff’s race, Democrat Norman Suits faces Republican Charles Harner. Current Sheriff Elry Faulkner is retiring after 40 years.

For Johnson County Commissioner, Democrat Jeff Mears faces Republican Fred Meyer.
