Hazmat Spill Closes Road In West Frankfort

West Frankfort, Ill. –  Crews are investigating a hazmat spill.

The spill happened at the intersection of Logan Street and W. Main Street in West Frankfort around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say a tanker overturned and started leaking an epoxy resin, which is a skin and eye irritant that poses no risk to the air quality.

The driver of the tanker was not injured and no evacuations were necessary.

The road was reopened around 8:15 a.m. Thursday.
