Saturday evening, Jackson County Deputies were informed that a hunter was lost.
63-year old James Leatherman was reported as missing after the owner of the land on which he was hunting came to check on him.
Jackson County Deputies, a K-9 unit, and IDNR officials searched the area on foot. They were later assisted by fire crews from Campbell Hill, Ava, and Gorham.
Leatherman was located at 9:43 pm after it was discovered that he became disoriented after leaving his hunting area after dark. Leatherman declined hospital treatment before re-joining his companions.
