A video that was originally posted on Facebook has now gone viral after an SIU student claims he caught video of a Carbondale policeman sleeping while on duty.

The maker of the video was identified as Matt Fedora. He says he saw the police officer asleep behind the wheel of his patrol car and decided to confront him.

Fedora shows his frustration in the video and states he was angry because his house was broken into last week and had over 4,000 dollars worth of electronics stolen. He wasn’t home at the time of the burglary and the case is still unsolved.

He states he wants the video to hold police accountable.

The video was posted on Facebook on Friday and has now over 40,000 views.

Carbondale Interim Police Chief Jeff Grubs says the department is investigating any wrongdoing, and he states the department doesn’t condone or tolerate any type of workplace misconduct.

The police officer who was video tapes has not been identified.
