FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A methamphetamine trafficking arrest has been made in Franklin County.

On Thursday, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on West 7th Street in West Frankfort.

A K9 conducted a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle and indicated the presence of drugs.

A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a passenger in the vehicle, 59 year old Shane Mullen of West Frankfort, to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Mullen was placed under arrest and has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 15-100 grams and Possession with the intent to deliver Methamphetamine.

Mullen is also currently on parole and as a result of this arrest a Department of Corrections warrant was obtained. 

Mullen remains in the Franklin County Jail.
