SCHELLER, Ill. (WJPF) – A Jefferson County man is facing child pornography charges.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says James Payne, 39, was arrested at his home on East Providence Road in Scheller on Friday, January 26. Police searched that same home on January 2 and took electronic devices to be analyzed.

Online court documents show James Payne’s alleged victim was under thirteen years old.

James Payne will be in court Tuesday, January 30, to determine whether or not he’ll be released from jail until the case goes to trial.  He’s currently charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of violating the sex offender registry.
