HERRIN, Ill (WJPF) – A domestic battery case has led to the arrest of a man in Herrin.

Just after 10:00pm October 9, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential panic alarm in the 14000 block of Circus Street. Officers learned a female was the victim of Domestic Battery.

The suspect Brian Herring had fled the residence and went into a concrete and steel underground bunker in the front yard. Multiple attempts to get Herring to exit the bunker were unsuccessful.

Around 10:45pm the Williamson County Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team arrived, and were able to get Herring to exit after an almost 4 hour standoff.

Herring was cited for Domestic Battery and Resisting arrest. He remains in the Williamson County Jail.
