WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A Royalton woman is facing a long list of charges after leading police on a high speed chase in a stolen truck.

On August 15, police received a tip about a stolen pickup spotted in Johnston City. When the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office tried to pull over the truck a few miles away, the driver, 41-year-old Kassie Pope, sped off, leading law enforcement on a chase through rural Williamson County. Pope is said to have raced through intersections at speeds around 100 miles per hour. Police finally made the decision to ram the stolen truck, sending it spinning off the side of the road and ending the chase.

Kassie Pope, who was on parole, was taken to jail on a number of charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, and aggravated fleeing and eluding.
