The Pinckneyville Panthers are in search of a new head coach.  After 16 seasons as the Panthers head coach, Bob Waggoner turned in his resignation at Monday night’s Pinckneyville School Board meeting.

It will be just the third time in the past 49 years that Pinckneyville will be in search of a new head coach.  Waggoner took over for the legendary Dick Corn in 2007.

Waggoner is leaving for a superintendent job.

This past season, Waggoner led the Panthers to a 28-7 record and the 2A Supersectional, where they eventually lost to Teutopolis.  In his 16 seasons as head coach, the Panthers went 386-103.  They took home fourth place at the State Finals twice in 2008 and 2018.

Over his entire career, Waggoner’s win-loss record is 553-224.  He was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018.
