CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Two juveniles were arrested and released, one adult is still wanted by police after a high speed pursuit  in Carbondale involving a stolen vehicle.

Just after 4:30 p.m. Friday, Carbondale Police say officers tried to stop the vehicle  on East Main Street. The driver instead turned north on US 51 and sped off. Carbondale Police then called off the chase over safety concerns.

The driver of the stolen vehicle crashed a few miles up the road at the railroad crossing on East Dillinger Road. All three occupants ran on foot. Two teenagers were arrested and later released. The third suspect, an adult, has been identified but not named. Police say charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
