CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — A “die-in,” organized by students unhappy with the university administration’s response to gun violence, was held Wednesday on the SIU campus.

Students marched from the student center to Anthony Hall where they laid down – as if they were dead – on the lawn. Students also made speeches and demands. Among the demands are notifying students of all threats, whether on campus or off, covering the hospital bills of students who are the victims of violent crimes, free emotional counseling services, and all night bus service.

Chancellor Austin Lane attended the event and spoke with students.
