MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — An arrest has been made and charges filed in the death of Brooklyn, Illinois Police Officer Brian Pierce, Jr.

Caleb Campbell, 22, is charged with one count of first-degree murder, failure to report an accident involving personal injury or death, reckless homicide, failure to stop after having an accident involving personal injury or death, and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

Campbell is currently in custody in Missouri on unrelated charges.

Officer Brian Pierce, Jr was killed August 4 while attempting to set up a roadblock to stop a fleeing suspect.
