MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WJPF) — A Carterville man has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and multiple counts of Aggravated Battery.

Prosecutors say 44-year-old Joshua Kern’s reckless behavior resulted in the death of 49-year-old Budgy Miller of Du Quoin.

Kern is accused of pushing Miller down on a sidewalk near a Carbondale business on July 3, 2020. Miller hit his head on the concrete and later died.

Kern is due back in court September 8.
