Three suspects sought in Carbondale shooting

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — One man is dead, three suspects at large after a shooting Saturday night in Carbondale.

It happened around 1:20 AM in the 500 Block of South Illinois Avenue.

The victim, 27-year-old Keon Cooper, was talking to three men in a parking lot when he was shot by two of them. All three then fled in a newer model black sedan.

Officers already in the area on foot patrol found Cooper provided first aid at the scene. Cooper was then taken to SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact law enforcement.
