MT. VERNON, IL (WJPF) — Police in Mt Vernon are investigating a bank robbery. It’s the second hold-up of a financial institution in the King City in a week’s time.

Investigators say the robbery happened around 11:30 AM Monday at the First Mid Bank and Trust branch on South 34th Street.

The suspect is described as a tall white man wearing a fake beard.

Another robbery at People’s National Bank on Main Street last Monday is still under investigation.
