Two Southern Illinois men are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Energy. It happened around 2:00 AM Thursday near the intersection of Rt. 148 and College Street.

According to police 32-year-old Tommy House was initially pulled over for a simple traffic violation. During the traffic stop though, officers found what later tests confirmed was cocaine. House and a passenger in the car, 30-year-old Darin Davis were both arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

While police were taking the men into custody, Davis fought officers and fled the scene. He was recaptured a short time later. He’s now facing additional charges of resisting arrest and escape from a police officer.
