A crash backed up traffic on I 57 in Franklin County yesterday.

It happened about 12:30, when a semi headed north near mile marker 72 had a tire blow out. As a result, the headlight assembly and part of the truck’s front bumper hit a Jeep driving by.

The left lanes of both north and southbound I-57 had to be closed for a short time to clean up the crash. The two out of state drivers were not injured. A passenger in the jeep was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
