Multiple people were injured in two separate crashed involving driver’s falling asleep behind the wheel on I-64.
The first happened Saturday evening when 68 year old Nathan Jefferson – of Shively, KY – nodded off while driving his motorcycle in the east bound lanes of I-64 in White County.
Police say that Jefferson crossed the median and then became airborne when it struck a drainage grate.
Jefferson was taken to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The second accident happened early Sunday morning.
State police say that 38 year old Angela Dunn of Goreville was travelling west on I-64 in Wayne County when she fell asleep behind the wheel.
Dunn’s car left the pavement, and plowed through about 100 feet of thick brush before striking a tree.
Two juveniles were in the car with Dunn. One was taken to the hospital.
Dunn was charged with improper lane usage and driving with an expired license.
