Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones revealed yesterday that two men recently charged with sex crimes in his county share a victim.

Jones told the Southern Illinoisan that Michael Hobbs of Sesser, who was arrested in May, and Joseph Ryker of Herrin, who was arrested in April had a victim in common in their cases. Jones said the investigation is ongoing, and he is unsure if there will be further arrests.

Both men appeared in court yesterday. Hobbs had his pretrial date moved to Oct. 12 and was given permission to seek employment out of state. Ryker, who has been out on bond and under house arrest, was given permission to leave his home to pursue employment.

A third man facing child sex crime charges, Curtis Carr of Mulkeytown, also appeared in the Benton courtroom yesterday. His pretrial conference was set for September 7.
