Three people were killed in that deadly interstate crash that shut down the southbound lanes of I-57 for more than seven hours yesterday.

State troopers say at 2:14 Wednesday morning, a GMC Yukon was driving north in the southbound lane between the Illinois 146 and Lick Creek Road exits, when it crashed head-on into a semi.

Three passengers in the vehicle – a man, a woman and a child in a car seat, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was airlifted with life-threatening injuries.
