A judge has ruled that Democratic state comptroller Susana Mendoza may direct which accounts should be used to pay state employees.

Mendoza reported late Tuesday that a St. Clair County Judge had ruled against Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner.

That means she may decide how to pay 600 employees.

Rauner wanted the Department of Central Management Services workers paid from general revenue. But due to the two year budget impasse, there is no money in that fund.

Mendoza argued that they should be paid from the agency’s garage and maintenance funds. She says those funds have $93 million available.
