Carbondale Police have confirmed they are investigating a death in Carbondale.

This morning at 8:02 a.m., authorities were called to the 900 block of East Main Street because of a fire. When fire fighters put out the fire, police say their investigation revealed a body.

Authorities say they have not determined the cause of death or identity of the deceased person at this time.

Carbondale Police, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services Unit and the Jackson County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
