The Pony Steakhouse and Cabaret’s bid for a liquor license was tabled by the Carbondale City Council last night –

Councilman Navreet Kang made the motion to table the action because some information was missing from the club’s application.

In 2015, the council denied the renewal of The Pony’s liquor license, saying the club had violated city liquor laws by allowing nudity. But a state panel later overturned that decision, saying there was no evidence to substantiate that claim.

Owner Jerry Westlund has said he will reopen the closed club downtown when his liquor license is renewed.

Last night, council members amended the ordinance that defines what entertainment is allowed within businesses that serve alcohol – changing a paragraph to say that all clothing shall be opaque.
