John A. Logan College has sent layoff notices to 55 employees.

The College notes financial hardship due to the ongoing budget impasse in Springfield, and in a letter signed by JALC President Dr. Ron House, 35 faculty, 15 staffers, and five custodians are set to be laid off.

The John A. Logan College Board will be voting to approve the layoffs at a closed-door meeting scheduled for Wednesday night at 5:30 pm in O’Neil Auditorium. The public will be allowed to voice their opinion to the Board at a following meeting at 7 pm.
