SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois Department of Agriculture officials have placed the operations of the Illinois State Fair and the DuQuoin State Fair under the same manager in a reorganization announced Friday.

Agriculture Acting Director Raymond Poe named Kevin Gordon to head the new Division of Fairs & Promotional Services. He named Shawn Mayernick to work with Gordon as assistant state fair manager in Springfield.

Besides the state fairs, the new division headed by Gordon will include the former bureaus of Business Services and County Fairs & Horse Racing. The four bureaus formerly operated independently.

The department is still looking for an assistant state fair manager in DuQuoin. Department officials say an announcement about that position will be made “in the coming weeks.”

The 54-year-old Gordon previously worked as Illinois State Fair operations manager.
