One person is dead after a three-vehicle crash on IL Rt. 3 in Randolph County.

According to the IL State Police, an SUV being driven by 63-year old Dennis Malott of Red Bud was heading eastbound on Rt. 3 just east of Great River Road.

Malott’s vehicle crossed the center line before hitting two vehicles, an SUV being driven by 36-year old Robert Guerra of Waterloo, and a car being driven by a 17-year old female from Waterloo.

34-year old Melanie Guerra, a passenger in the SUV hit by Malott, was killed.

Robert Guerra and four children were taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

Malott was also taken to the hospital, and has been charged with improper lane usage and driving without insurance.
