Marion, Ill. – Officials have broken ground on a new terminal at the Williamson County Airport.

News 3 reports $8 million will go into the first phase of the new project. $5.5 million of that will come from the Federal Aviation Administration and the other $2.5 million will come from the airport.

Phase one of the construction is expected to be completed in 14 months. The terminal is expected to open by summer 2016 and is expected to cost $11 million total.
