One person is in custody after an armed stand-off in Carmi.

Authorities say the events leading up to the stand-off started late Monday night when Carmi Police attempted to pull over a man driving a four wheeler. The driver, 34-year-old Willie Wiseman, refused to stop and officers pursued him. Wiseman later crashed the ATV then fled on foot. A backpack containing drug paraphernalia was found at the crash site.

On Tuesdat, police tracked Wiseman to a home on Olive Street in Carmi where it was believed that Wiseman was in possession of several stolen guns.

Once police made their presence known, Wiseman declared that he would shoot at the officers.

Law enforcement eventually entered the home. Wiseman surrendered without a shot being fired. He was taken to a local hospital for injuries related the four wheeler crash.

He’s facing multiple drug and weapons charges, with additional charges expected. Wiseman also had an active arrest warrant out of Paducah.

His bond has been set at $10,000 cash.
