The murder trial of Gaege Bethune will enter its fifth day today.

Yesterday more testimony was given focusing on the incidents leading up to the initial disappearance of Pravin Varughese.

A state trooper who was on the scene and talked to both Bethune and Varughese the night Varughese went missing testified that he was making, what he considered at the time, to be a motorist assist. The trooper said he was at the scene because the vehicle the two were riding in was stopped along the side of the road with its hazard lights on.

The trooper said Bethune cooperated and claimed that they had stopped to pick up a hitchhiker and that s struggle ensued and the hitchhiker ran off into the woods.

After a brief search for the hitchhiker failed to turn up anything, the trooper told the men to leave the scene and then the trooper left.

The trial is expected to wrap up next week.
