We now know the name of the man killed by Illinois State Police in a shootout over the weekend.

It all started just Friday evening when police say Donny Max Daugherty ,of Clifton, Tennessee, entered a Metropolis home with a weapon and assaulted a resident inside before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Early Saturday morning, police responded to a reports of an unknown person in the area followed by gunshots.

After about three hours of searching, an Illinois State Trooper encountered Daugherty and gunfire was exchanged, fatally wounding the Daugherty.

State Police say he was wanted by the US Marshall’s for a probation violation pertaining to a charge of possession of a weapon and an aggravated assault warrant through the Nashville, Tennessee Police Department.

Daugherty was known to have violent tendencies and had prior arrests for aggravated assault and weapons violations.

No officers injured and the investigation is ongoing.
