Governor Bruce Rauner has vetoed a bill that sought to expand access to child care.

Senate Bill 730 increased the income eligibility threshold for the Child Care Assistance Program to 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level in 2016 and expanded the program to help those who need child care assistance to further their education.

Rauner said the bill would have put income thresholds ahead of nearly every state in the country at a time when Illinois has a record deficit.
