MARION — A woman who was shot by police after being taken hostage is suing the city of Marion, members of its police department, and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Samantha Holmes filed the lawsuit Monday over the April 28, 2015 shootout between 27 year-old Joshua Green and police.

Holmes was shot in her right hip and buttocks during the four-hour standoff in which Green was shot and killed by police. Holmes’ attorney says her injuries required surgery and use of a colostomy bag, and she’s left with $175,000 in medical bills.

The lawsuit accuses city and county officers of disregarding Holmes’ safety in violation of police procedures, as well violations of hostage negotiations and assault team practices.
