An IL State Trooper was injured in a crash on Interstate 57 yesterday.

According to the IL State Police, a pickup truck was heading southbound when the driver lost control and hit a parked state police cruiser on the left shoulder.

The impact of the crash pushed the cruiser into an abandoned vehicle that the trooper was investigating.

The trooper was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

49-year old Rojelio Sanchez of Escondido, California, was taken to a local hospital, but was also charged with failure to yield to a stopped authorized emergency vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, and using an unsafe tire.
