An attempted override of a veto of legislation pertaining to SIU failed in the IL House yesterday.

House Bill 4113 was designed to give full voting power to two student members of the SIU Board of Trustees; one from Carbondale, one from Edwardsville.

The bill also had a plan intended to waive bidding laws regarding the printing of the Daily Egyptian. Gov. Bruce Rauner said all public universities should have that change applied to them as well.

The final vote was 54 in favor, 49 opposed. 17 Representatives did not cast a vote.
