The safety of the public has not been threatened after a lead occurred at the Honeywell Plant near Metropolis.

Authorities said that a leak occurred on Saturday, and that it had been contained on plant grounds.

More information about the leak is expected to be released.

A uranium hexafluoride leak last year at the plant was said to pose no threat to the public. However, after an event report by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the leak was determined to be more serious than originally estimated.
