A Carbondale man was arrested for attempting to flee from the Jackson County Courthouse, where he had been sentenced to prison time.

22-year old Charles Thomas attempted to get away around 10:30 am yesterday, reportedly damaging a door during his escape.

Thomas was apprehended minutes later in the 700 block of Walnut St.

Thomas now faces charges of criminal damage to government property and aggravated battery. He remains incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
