An abducted eight month-old infant was found safe and sound yesterday in Jefferson County by Illinois State Police.

The child, Samiyah Nichols was reported as having been abducted by three individuals in Memphis.

At about 9:15 am, Illinois State Police stopped a vehicle matching a description given to them in advance by the Missouri Highway Patrol. The infant was unharmed but was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Three people, 28 year old Brandon Wright of Homewood, 27 year old Betty Mitchell of Muncie, IN, and 29 year old Samuel Nichols of Chicago were arrested. Nichols, who is believed to be the biological father of the infant, was arrested on a separate warrant. Wright and Mitchell were released shortly thereafter.
