Carbondale, Ill. – Carbondale Police say there were 60 arrests or citations given during Unofficial Halloween weekend.

39 of those citations were for public possession or underage consumption of alcohol. 31 of the 60 people arrested are SIU students. Three others were either from John A. Logan College, Rend Lake College or Southeast Missouri State University.

Three people were arrested when a large crowd gathered on the 400 block of South Ash Street.

Police say some members of the crowd on the 400 block of S. Ash Street threw rocks, bottles and full cans of beer at police officers Saturday night. No injuries occurred.

30-year-old Gerald Welch of Chicago faces Criminal Damage to State Supported Property charges, 18-year-old Corey Albrecht faces aggravated assault, reckless conduct and underage consumption charges, while 19-year-old Zachary Justus is charged with disorderly conduct.

Police say Albrecht and Justus are students at SIU.

Police say no suspect has been identified in the overturning of a car on Ash street.
