A German man was injured yesterday after a fall at Garden of the Gods Recreation Area.

The Southern Illinoisan is reporting that 50 year old Hines Basse of Laatzen, Germany fell nearly 15 feet near the formation called  Devil’s Smokestack.

Emergency crews were sent to the scene at around 10:30 am, after Basse suffered injuries to his ankle, knee, and leg. He was flown to an Evansville, IN hospital.
