West Frankfort, Ill. – A man from West Frankfort who already faces murder charges now faces murder for hire charges.

West Frankfort police are charging 67-year-old John P. Adams with five counts of solicitation of murder for hire. Police say an investigation has led them to believe Adams attempted to hire someone to kill numerous family members and a public official.

Each charge carries a sentence of 20 to 40 years. Adams is now being held in isolation in prison while certain privileges like visitation have been cut dramatically.

He is already charged with two counts of murder in the shooting death of his wife, Kendra Adams. He will appear in court for those charges September 3.
