Carbondale police are investigating an armed robbery that happened recently on the 500 block of South Illinois Avenue.
Officers say a group of suspects tried to rob a victim, and one of them was armed with a gun.
Police arrested two suspects — 18-year-old Jared Gibbs and 19-year-old Clayton Maclin, both from Carbondale. A third suspect, a juvenile, was also taken into custody nearby.
Officers say they recovered a discarded firearm during the investigation.
Gibbs and Maclin are both facing charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and attempted armed robbery. They were taken to the Jackson County Jail.
Police say the juvenile was eligible for detention, but no facility was available, so they were released to a family member.
