A new community outreach program is set to begin in Murphysboro.

The program, called ICICLE, or Improving our Community by Involving Citizens and Law Enforcement, is a program intended to help police officers develop a dialogue with people in the community.

The city council approved the program in November. 10 people will meet monthly with police officers to discuss problems within their ward.

City Aldermen will choose the ten people. The ICICLE program will be implemented in the new year.
