Energy, Ill. – A man and woman are in custody after an early-morning traffic stop led to the discovery of meth-making materials.
Energy Police say 32-year-old Dustin Mezo was pulled over for multiple traffic violations around 1:30 a.m. Thursday at the Casey’s Gas Station in Energy. Police say they smelled what appeared to be marijuana and ordered Mezo and the passenger, 28-year-old Betty May, to exit the car.
Police say they discovered several plastic bottles, tubing and other items consistent with meth manufacturing. They also say Mezo, a convicted felon, was found in possession of a switch-blade pocket knife.
Both Mezo and May face multiple charges and were taken to the Williamson County Jail. No court date was immediately available.
