CARBONDALE, IL. (WJPF) — A shooting investigation in Carbondale resulted in the arrest of a Chicago man on drug charges.

24-year-old Derek Brownlee, Jr. faces 1 count each of Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.

According to Carbondale Police, officers responded to the 800 Block of East Grand Avenue  just after 1:00 AM Monday to the report of shots fired.

Arriving at the scene, police found a 24-year-old with gunshot wounds. He was eventually transferred to a St. Louis hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim’s name is not being released at this time.

Police say that Brownlee was in possession of between 100 and 500 grams of marijuana and that the drugs played a part in the shooting.

Three additional suspects are still wanted by police.
