MURPHYSBORO, IL. (WJPF) — A DeSoto woman will spend the next twenty years behind bars for hiring a man to kill her husband and then helping to hide the body.
55-year-old Carmen Stonemark pleaded guilty to Solicitation to Commit Murder and Concealment of a Homicidal Death.
Prosecutors say that Stonemark asked her lover, James Deese, to kill her husband, Frank Stonemark, and then helped Deese dismember the body with a chainsaw and hide the remains in a remote area of Jackson County.
Hoping to further hide the crime, Carmen Stonemark told police that she and her husband had gotten into a fight and he had left home.
James Deese has already pleaded guilty to murder, he’ll be sentenced next month.
